SPARC Conference 2008
Presented by STAND, the Statewide Advocacy Network on Disabilities, Inc.

On September 20, 2008, a few of us attended the STAND sponsored SPARC Conference in Largo, FL. Over 60 sessions were offered. There were over 150 exhibitors. Attendees included parents, educators, therapists, psychologists and advocates of children with disabilities. This event was a truly a chance to gain information and tools to help your child and family!

Many topics focused on education, including IEPs and IDEA 2004. Information on intervention, therapies, siblings of children with disabilities, coping strategies and much, much more was shared. Right there in front of us were so many resources that we had not known about or had just briefly heard about.

The cost of this conference was $25 and well worth every penny. Attendees walked away with bags full of information received from sessions and exhibitor tables, and most importantly, new ideas and information for helping their children and families be more successful.

"This was a great experience. I talked with many people and can not wait for our meeting to share some of the information. I highly recomend everyone attending this the next time one is announced. I have so many new opportunities to explore on my journey of helping my daughter. I also feel I can truly be her advocate in school!" - quote by Erin W. from Tampa
